Responsibilities
• Lead incident response efforts while ensuring timely resolution of infrastructure-related issues and minimizing downtime.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential risks and propose solutions to mitigate them.
• Develop and implement strategies for the optimal utilization and performance of infrastructure resources.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement in the organization’s infrastructure.
• Installing new / rebuilding existing servers and configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and operational requirements.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems key processes, -reviewing system and application logs.
• Perform regular security and system monitoring to identify any possible intrusions on the server and website and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request for staff accounts and server.
• Provide IT network troubleshooting/ connectivity support per request from CDH tenants, Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures while coordinating and communicating with impacted stakeholders.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Provide technical support for both hardware- and software issues for the CDH staff equipment and manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems.
• Install and test computer-related equipment alongside doing health checks of core infrastructure.
• Establishing Web system specifications by analyzing access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
• Maintaining Website performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating system management. running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
• Procurement of IT utilities / consumables alongside maintaining and updating the IT asset register.
• Developing and overseeing internet management procedures for the CDH community.
• Contacting and relationship management of service providers i.e Data net, Solar company, IT supplies among others.
• Monitoring and responsible of solar performance alongside UMEME tracking (Billing) with identified clients.
• Overseeing general wiring and following up on the relevant maintenance of Umeme and solar fixtures.
Requirements
• Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. BSC Electrical Engineering would be an added advantage.
• Experience in Building telecommunications infrastructure sites, supervising civil works by contractors.
• Knowledge and skill in setting up telecommunications cabinets and equipment installations.
• Experience in installation of power systems (AC [single phase & 3phase] and DC [48V to 96V, high current]) and handling of grid power, genset etc.
• Understanding of cooling systems and their maintenance.
• Experience with fire suppression systems, CCTV, access control, security of the sites and infrastructure.
• Understanding and skill in networking, network technologies, infrastructure and power standards (ISO, QHSE) is an added advantage.
• Able to manage projects, work with tight deadlines and unpredictable schedules.
• A good communicator, fluent in English. Other languages added advantage.
• Excellent at report writing.
• Able to work unsupervised and with a team.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience
