Senior Consultant – RAN Planning and Optimization.Technology job at MTN Uganda Limited

Main Job Functions:
• Managing the RAN and Transport sections for planning and Optimization.
• Consolidation of capacity requirements (Network Dimensioning) for 2G, 3G, LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi from the business and site performance KPIs.
• Consolidation of capacity requirements for Microwave Transport network
• Consolidate national coverage requirements for 2G/3G/LTE/WIMAX/WIFI/5G from Marketing, Sale & Distribution, Customer Service, Radio Planning, Transmission planning and other stakeholders for inclusion in the annual budget cycle.
• Ensuring all network related regulatory and group key performance indicator targets are met through liaising with OEM and Managed Services partners
• Project execution in the Radio and Transmission network
• Conducting consistency parameter checks on Radio and Transport network.
• Acting as interface between Technology and Commercial Regional structure.
• Ringfencing MTN Uganda leadership on Network NPS and customer experience.
• Developing, Managing & reviewing the results of all defined radio and transmission Optimization procedures, preparing the optimization processes for the workflow, weekly reports, templates, tracking database, etc as per MTN Group Technology standard.
• Follow up on site rollout projects for 2G, 3G, LTE, WiMAX, Wi-Fi to ensure that drive tests, configuration and performance checks are properly done.
• Evaluation of new RAN network solutions and technologies such as OPENRAN, network sharing, re-farming, spectrum sharing.
• Play a supervisory role for major RAN projects such as modernization and site build in terms of the site performance
• Champion roll-out of new technologies e.g 5G and its relevant use cases.
• Vendor management for Managed services for Radio Access Network and Transmission.

Education:
• Bachelors’ degree from a recognized University in any of these fields; Electrical / Telecommunications Engineering
• Project management approach such as Prince II or PMBOK an added advantage

Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in radio planning and optimization which must include:
• Experience across diverse OEM vendors such as ZTE, HUAWEI, ERICSSON
• Experience working with subcontractors to deliver on assigned works
• Experience working with radio planning tools such as ASSET, MAPINFO, google earth
• Strong understanding of different radio network configurations for 2G, 3G, WIFI, WIMAX, LTE and the microwave transmission network.
