Responsibilities
A. Key Responsibilities
The Project Manager will be in charge of;
• Responsible for at least two mid-size projects (ca. EUR 100,000-500,000). Implementation of these projects is carried out in collaboration with implementing partners, and as such, the position involves significant stakeholder management.
• Needs identification for project planning and conceptualization, contract management, M&E oversight, financial management of activities/projects.
The Project Manager performs the following tasks:
B. Specific Tasks
• Stakeholder engagement and management.
• Project oversight and quality assurance to ensure project activities are in line with agreed objectives (including support to M&E and reporting).
• Close technical and management and guidance of third-party service providers, grant recipients, etc.
• Contract management (including financial monitoring).
• Engagement with the procurement department.
• Project conceptualization and design (i.e. identifying a problem and proposing interventions to address it, development of ToRs and project proposals).
• Organizing working groups/ public events jointly with relevant stakeholders (launch, closing or information sessions for specific projects).
• Technical advice (capacity building) to project partners on relevant topics.
Other Duties/Additional Tasks
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Development Economics, Project Management, or other relevant disciplines.
Details of experience
• 5 years of relevant professional experience in development cooperation, in particular in enterprise development, employment promotion, private sector development, TVET.
• Knowledge of basic statistical software (at minimum MS Excel).
• Proven experience of successfully managing larger and complex projects.
• Experience with gender transformative project approaches and gender mainstreaming is a strong asset.
• Ability to effectively engage with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with GIZ processes and rules (procurement, contract management, etc.) is an asset.
• Proven capacity to work reliably and efficiently even in times of high time pressure and/or thematic complexity.
• Experience in working in intercultural teams.
• Experience in writing reports
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce quality presentations
