The broader Energy and Climate programme (also known internally as the Energy and Climate Cluster), implemented by GIZ in Uganda, supports the Ugandan Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD). The programme works to promote use of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and practices, increase access to clean energy, as well as to implement climate friendly policies.
GIZ is recruiting a Junior Communications Specialist to support implementation of Communications, Public Relations (PR) and Knowledge Management (KM) tasks at both cluster and project level.
The Junior Communications Specialist performs the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities
The Junior Communications Specialist will be responsible for:
• Engages in general day to day tasks e.g communications support, social media engagement, media monitoring, writing and editing, proof reading and events management Contributes to the development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of a Cluster Communications, PR and KM strategy.
• Implements cluster KM activities, e.g. gathering, storage and retrieval of relevant information to foster easy and timely access to it, and reduce on duplication.
• Media work
• Communications & PR work
• Internal communications and knowledge management
Required Qualifications, Competences, and Experience.
Qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations, Marketing, or any related field.
Professional Experience
• 2 years of professional experience in the field of communica- tions (media and PR work, events management, social media engagement and internal communication). Experience in strategic communication planning, implemen- tation, budgeting, and/or strategy monitoring and evaluation. Experience in knowledge management.
• Proven experience in content/media development, writing and/or editorial work and social media.
