JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in the livestock genetics industry in East Africa countries of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. As the Human Resources Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the human capital that drives our mission to enhance livestock genetics, improve breeding programs, and contribute to the agricultural sector’s growth across the three countries of focus.
Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
• Lead the recruitment process, from job postings and candidate sourcing to conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
• Collaborate with department heads to define staffing needs and ensure timely and quality hires.
Employee Development and Training:
• Identify training and development opportunities for employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Implement and oversee career development programs to nurture talent within the organization.
HR Policies and Compliance:
• Develop, maintain, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations.
• Stay informed about relevant labour laws and livestock industry standards.
Compensation and Benefits Administration:
• Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs tailored to the livestock genetics industry.
• Conduct regular salary reviews and recommend adjustments as needed.
Employee Relations and Engagement:
• Foster a positive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts.
• Implement employee engagement initiatives, such as team-building activities and recognition programs.
Performance Management:
• Oversee the performance appraisal process and work with managers to create performance improvement plans.
• Ensure that performance evaluations are fair and consistent.
HR Metrics and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports to track key HR metrics.
• Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and improve HR processes.
Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure that the workplace adheres to safety regulations and promote a culture of safety.
• Handle workers’ compensation and safety-related matters.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred), and/ or Postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in human resources management, with a preference for experience in the livestock genetics or agriculture industry.
• In-depth knowledge of labour laws, regulations, and industry-specific standards.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Relevant HR certifications, such as CHRP or IHRM, are a plus.
