What we are looking for
The purpose of the HR Coordinator L&D position is to ensure proper planning, coordination and implementation of the Capacity building, Learning & Development initiatives for Staff. The HR Coordinator L&D will support the HRM to ensure an effective and efficient L&D portfolio for NRC Uganda that fosters enhancement of skills and capacities for staff to perform to their best in their roles.
The HR Coordinator Learning & Development will be a functional support in Learning & development (L&D) and Culture supporting NRC’s strategic objectives and business requirements. The Coordinator will possess the right bearing to work with line managers and heads of department and be technically strong, able to act as L&D subject matter expert and being a trusted partner to line managers and heads of department by understanding the growth needs of their departments. The Coordinator will support the HRM to design and develop the required learning, culture interventions and may also be required to facilitate Organisation-wide trainings. The Coordinator supports the HRM in designing, coordinating, and delivering strategic L&D initiatives. He/she may support and contribute to the Regional and Global L&D strategies in collaboration with the Regional L&D Advisor. He/she will ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all learning communities.
What you will do
Generic responsibilities
1. Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at country level.
2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements.
3. Prepare and submit reports and analysis.
4. Ensure proper filing of all support documents.
5. Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings.
6. Ensure implementation of administrative systems and procedures
7. Ensure adherence to NRC policies and the national labour law in all processes and procedures.
8. Coordinate staff inductions, trainings, etc.
9. Ensure that staff records in all offices in the area are up to date and filed appropriately.
Specific responsibilities
• Ensure all L&D initiatives are in compliance with the Country Capacity building SOP as well as the Regional and Global L&D policies.
• Support the HRM to design and execute a learning and capacity building strategy that aligns with NRC Uganda’s objectives.
• Work closely with line managers to conduct training needs analysis, design, plan, implement and monitor cost-effective training programs/solutions for staff across all levels and Office locations.
• Ensure that the trainings are aligned with the NRC competency framework.
• Mobilize internal expertise in design and delivery of learning initiatives, using existing specialist/technical expertise.
• Where need be, source external training partners and ensure that they understand NRC’s context, values, and specific needs. Build strong relationships with external training suppliers and consultants.
• Manage and enhance the Induction Program for new staff in coordination with HR Focal persons in the different locations, ensuring timeliness and proper tracking.
• Support to manage the trainings budget and source cost-effective solutions.
• Implement new age and creative learning techniques relevant NRC Uganda
• Focal person for the NRC KAYA Mandatory courses, following up with staff, monitoring and tracking completion.
• Ensure timely delivery of NRC Ways Inductions to newly hired staff, in coordinate within different TOT at Country and Area level.
• Responsible for the NRC Annual mandatory refresher trainings including but not limited to, CoC, PSEA, Child safeguarding and the Anti-Corruption for all staff and Service Contractors.
• Support the HRM to oversee the Overall Staff capacity building, learning and development portfolio at Country level, in coordination with the Line Managers and HR Focal persons.
• Support staff and line managers through the performance management cycle, ensuring that the process and the system is understood and all timelines are met as per policy.
• Maintain the Country Training calendar and a timely updated training tracker.
• Assess and report on staff and manager learning engagement and satisfaction through periodic staff and manager feedback and evaluation surveys.
• Report and provide updated monthly and quarterly training reports, and other reports related to training as and when requested using standard reporting tools.
• Perform any other duties as may be delegated from time to time by the Line Manager.
What you will bring
Generic professional competencies:
• Experience from working in human resource department supporting L&D
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Some knowledge of English.
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in HR management, organizational behaviour, business administration and related fields from a reputable university. Post graduate qualification will be added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience (with at least 2-3 years in the L&D unit) in an international organization or multinational corporation
• Recognized L&D certification will be an advantage.
• Passion for L&D and Culture with the desire to grow in a L&D function.
• Experience in facilitating both in-person and online sessions.
• Knowledge and experience in Microsoft or Google Suite.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, and strong presentation skills.
• Proven networking capabilities, influencing, negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills.
• Growth mindset, resilient and adaptable to change.
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working in a multicultural environment.
• Proactive, ability to juggle multiple priorities at the same time, able to work under pressure, ambiguity and meet deadlines.
• Positive and constructive attitude and Result orientated.
• Ability to work as member of a team and build relationships with HR team members and business to ensure excellent service.
• High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and attention to detail.
What we offer
• Duty station: Kampala_ Uganda
• Contract: national contract, 12 months (extension possible, dependent on funding)
• Travel: up to 40% internally.
• Salary/benefits: grade 7 on NRC’s country salary scale.
