Role description
We are looking for a mid-entry level to mid- level candidate for the role of Finance and Operations Officer. This role will carry out finance and accounting duties with oversight of financial management processes and procedures as well as project financial oversight. The role will further support the Operations Associate with setting up and maintaining efficient operational structures to ensure proper management workflow and objectives.

Responsibilities include
Finance and Accounting
• Bookkeeping: recording transactions, updating the general ledger and reconciling account
• Financial reporting: preparing financial statements, completing monthly, quarterly and annual closing and organizing
• Budgeting including creating financial models and forecasts, managing cashflow
• Tax compliance: ensuring all tax obligations are paid on time
• Payroll management: preparing monthly payroll and ensuring all salaries and payroll obligations are paid on time
• Regulatory adherence: ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, advising on relevant laws and standards.
• Project financial oversight: maintaining all project budgets and related transaction and preparing all project financial reports
• Loan accounting: maintain the loan accounting for portfolio companies in M-Kyala Capital, working closely with the Investment Analyst

Operational oversight:
• Develop robust tools and processes to enable efficiency in the day to day administration
• Maintain project work plan tracking
• Work closely with the Operations Associate to oversee process management
• Work with the Operations Associate to develop and manage operational policies such as travel policies, financial management policies, HR policies and so forth
• Ensure staff are fully trained and regularly made aware of company policies and how they work

Experience and skills required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Business Administration or related field
• At least 2 years of work experience with a specialization in accounting and finance
• Experience in project management as part of a project team within a consulting firm, financial institution, audit firm or enterprise support organization would be an added advantage
• Experience with financial reporting and policy documentation
• Ability to work with Microsoft office and google suites as well as quick adaptability to key reporting and analytical digital tools
• Excellent command in spoken and written English is a MUST
• Attention to detail
• Understanding of Ugandan laws and regulations
