Duration of Contract: 1 year contract (with possibility for extension)

Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Project Officer, the Caseworker is responsible for the day-to-day psychological support of beneficiaries as well as providing specialized counselling, support to child protection, GBV cases and peace building activities in the settlement and host communities.

Duties & Responsibilities
Project Implementation
• Liaising with and working in cooperation with the relevant local authorities, community leaders, and nongovernmental organizations, collaborating/implementing partners and other stakeholders where appropriate in order to achieve the project objectives and facilitate project implementation.
• Collect and tabulate on a regular basis field data on project activities carried out and update the project manager on the progress of MHPSS activities
• Conduct MHPSS assessments using participatory approaches for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impacts of the project.
• Support PSS and peace building project activities through regularly visits to the project sites, checks on the progress, offers support as directed by the project officer in line with the project objectives, activities and targets.
• Conduct a daily visual assessment of the persons we serve (PWS) and ensure a variety of structured psychosocial interventions within the settlement and host communities, catering to the needs of PWS of different ages, genders, and abilities.
• Supervise case management for persons with psychosocial problems, refers and follows up on the reception services, coordinates, consults and collaborates with other service providers.
• Lead and supervise outreach activities and assist in the organizing and implementation of trainings and workshops.
• Liaise with household members and other community leaders regularly to keep them informed of any development or problems within the settlements and surrounding areas regarding PSS activities.
• Supervise and support community participation in refugee settlements and at all the sub county level for the effective implementation and coordination of psychosocial activities.
• Promote active community participation in specified project activities through involving beneficiaries, intermediaries and local leaders in the planning and implementation process.
• Build capacity of Community structures to understand the CBPS and PFA approaches and mainstreams them in all activities
• Participate in developing and reviewing of MHPSS assessment tools.
• Supervise the provision of scalable, structured and non-structured psychotherapies including Interpersonal group therapy (IPT-G), Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), SH+ and PM+
Project Planning
• Assist the project officer in preparing periodical work plans, case follow-ups and reports on psychosocial activities and achievements in line with the requirements stipulated in the project documents.
Staff Management
• Promote active and meaningful participation of the other field staff, beneficiaries and other intermediaries in planning, implementation and evaluation of project activities as required.
• Train and mentor LWF community-based facilitators and community counsellors in organizational policies, recreational and psychosocial activities implemented within the refugee settlement.
• Supervise and support community participation in refugee settlements and at all the sub county level for the effective implementation and coordination of psychosocial activities.
Financial management / Budget Monitoring & Control
• Ensure proper supporting documents (attendance lists (with all the necessary information filled.) end of activity reports.
• Ensure timely accountability and closely follow up with field payments.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
• Work closely with M&E team to monitor project performance and ensure an appropriate level of accountability;
• Ensure that proper mapping of right beneficiaries is done & information shared on time.
Other
• Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor.
• Ensure strict adherence to the principles of child protection/psychosocial support at all times including respect for confidentiality and a child centered approach, and act in the best interests of the persons of concern.
• Commitment to and understanding of LWF aims, values and principles including rights-based approach.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• The applicants should preferably hold a Diploma in Social work, Social Sciences, Development studies, Community Psychology, Education or any related fields.
• Ability to ride with a valid Class A Motorcycle riding permit
• Child protection case management experience
• Competent skills in information management including MS Packages, ProGres V4, SurveyCTO
• Experience in working with refugee children and communities.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of the local language

Personal qualities
• Must have a sound track record to work with children (no criminal record).
• Must be willing to ride a motorcycle and possess a valid riding permit.
• Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoys working in the field and previous work in nutrition or health related intervention is an added advantage.
• Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills.
• Able to adhere to set security standards.
