Our client connects African filmmaking talent with global media buyers curating the best filmmakers on the African continent and put them in touch with focuses on the African creative and creating consistent and well-paid work with local and international. The client is actively seeking a skilled Accountant with a specialized background in media production accounting to fill the post.
THE JOB
The accountant will be responsible for overseeing our financial operations, maintaining financial records, and providing valuable insights to support informed decision-making. The position is part time (3 days in a week)
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate financial statements, reports, and records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Assisting in the development and management of budgets, tracking expenses, and monitoring variances.
• Conducting financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and cost-efficiency.
• Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, preparing tax returns, and liaising with tax authorities as needed.
• Facilitating internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
• Assisting in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes to support strategic decision-making.
• Maintaining the integrity of financial data and safeguarding confidential information.
QUALIFICATIONS
The job holder should have the following qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s have an added advantage.
• 4 –5 yrs Proven experience in accounting with a strong track record of maintaining financial records and preparing accurate financial statements.
• Membership to a professional body
• Experience in funding for NGO or startups is an added advantage.
• Experience in accounting for Ugandan based companies is required.

• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial standards.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Must be conversant with Ugandan accounting and Ugandan law.
