JOB DETAILS:
Position Overview:
Q2 Impact is seeking an experienced Writer/Editor to improve the quality of the research and evaluations, including assessments and learning reviews that USAID/Uganda commissions ULA to undertake as well as support the editing and stylistic upgrading of the Mission’s written products. The aim is to reduce the time that senior Mission staff spend on copy-editing and ensure that ULA’s final products are accessible high-quality products that communicate to diverse audiences.
Period of Performance:
January to June 2024
Level of Effort Expectations:
This position is expected to have an LOE of around 50 days.

Responsibilities:
• Provide copy edit and writing support to mission staff development of official documents: This may include official memorandum (i.e., action memos for the Mission Director, activity approval and amendment memos, etc.); scopes of work and program descriptions for new activities and extensions; and background and scene-setter documents for official events, speeches, remarks and talking points, among others.
• Provide copy-editing and writing for technical research and evaluations, including learning reviews and assessments and provide constructive feedback on writing and demonstrate accessible and highly communicative English styles, including examples of rewritten/restyled paragraphs, document sections and entire documents. Ensure high-quality products that communicate results and impact to diverse audiences.
• Develop public outreach materials: Support the Development and Outreach Communications (DOC) team and Mission staff with drafting and editing public outreach materials, such as speeches and social media postings. Help develop guidance, or standard templates, for various speeches.
• Edit documents that have been drafted by Mission staff.
• Proofread for content and clarity. Provide comments and feedback to the writer when it’s unclear what they are attempting to convey.
• Revise. In the case that the writing is understandable, but just poorly written, provide edits in track changes. The Writer/Editor will be expected to use Google Docs.
• Correct grammatical and punctuation errors. Utilize the USAID style guidelines.

Requirements:
• BA degree in any applicable subject that demonstrates writing skills, knowledge, and ability.
• Demonstrated experience in tutoring, teaching, or coaching in writing is preferred.
• Experience working in international development or writing for donors/NGOs.
