JOB DETAILS:
As Technical Advisor – Learning through Play (TA-LtP) within the Research and Development team, the job holder should have strong expertise and experience in at least one of the PlayMatters technical areas of work (ECCE/primary education, Education in Emergencies (EiE), teacher professional development and/or MHPSS). S/he must have a strong interest and knowledge of psychosocial wellbeing with preferred experience in MHPSS programming in refugee/EiE settings.
Qualifications, Competencies and Requirements:
• A Master’s Degree in Education, mental health/social work, development studies, etc. (or equivalent professional experience).
• At least 5 years’ experience in area of expertise, of which at least 3 years in the field,
• Strong experience in technical writing as well as drafting, refining, adapting, and reviewing content, methods, tools, interventions, and storyboards with keen attention to detail.
• Strong facilitation and coaching skills, including adapting programmatic contents to issues identified during support visits/monitoring. Must be able to explain complicated concepts in a relatable, culturally appropriate, easy-to-understand, engaging way.
• Strong commitment to capacity building of regional, national, and field staff and partners with a willingness to utilize participatory and consultative approaches.
• Experience working in refugee-hosting settings and how that relates to children’s experiences of education and psychosocial wellbeing. Preferred experience in East Africa working with illiterate and semi-literate populations.
