Our client in Mbarara, Uganda is looking for a Production Manager to join their team for a job vacancy within the Dairy/Food Processing industry. This position is open to Ugandan nationals as well as expats. The ideal candidate must have experience in the production of dry dairy products such as whey powder, casein and other biproducts. The ideal candidate must also be able to lead a team and train team members in the production of dry dairy products. The position also requires at least 5 years of experience in dairy production management

Responsibilities
• Overall supervision and management of manpower and production operations
• Prepare duty and vacation roaster for production staff to minimize overtime, ensure compliance to legal requirements and that all employees are gainfully employed for the required hours.

• Translate sales budget into a production budget (Volume and cost)

• Production planning to ensure sales orders are met.
• Manage and organize people (between departments) and resources to ensure timely delivery of set goals in a cost-effective manner (material yields, labour efficiency, utility efficiencies)
• Produce quality products minimizing losses, maximizing yields.
• Maintain desired level of safety and hygiene in the factory workspace and compliance to all legal requirements.
• Review and authorize all control records to assure adherence to procedures during processing and ensure timely corrective measures are taken.
• Monitor production output and correct deviations; authorize material requests by controllers.
• Training and development of production staff
• Account for inputs and outputs of production process.
• Monitor efficiency indicators for the department and ensure continuous improvement toward world class manufacturing (labour, water use, electricity consumption, husks utilization, product failure rate, material yields) Benchmark processes against world class standards.
• Prepare production reports daily, weekly and monthly.
• Develop SOP’s and Implement FSMS in the department.
• Be a member of the FSM team and internal auditor for the FSMS.

Requirements
• Minimum BSc degree in Dairy technology, Food Science or equivalent
• ISO22000 FSMS and or FSSC22000 internal audit certification
• MUST HAVE a minimum 5 years in Dairy production management on milk powders, Whey protein concentrates, casein, butter, ghee and UHT milk.
