JOB DETAILS:
Bank of India (U) Ltd is looking for a qualified and experienced result-oriented individual to fill the Risk Manager position at Head Office, Jinja Road, Kampala.

Risk Manager

Effectively and efficiently coordinate the development and implementation of the Bank’s integrated Risk Management Framework and strategy for all aspects of risk across the Bank. The role involves spearheading the development and implementation of comprehensive Risk Management programmes and strategies tailored to the particular needs of the Bank, which include risk identification, risk assessment, risk monitoring, risk control and risk reporting for each of the Bank’s major risk areas in line with best practice, regulator guidelines and Bank Policies and to coordinate development and update of the risk strategy, policy, processes, controls and tools for the bank.

Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the development and implementation of the Risk Management policies and strategies towards fulfilment of the Bank’s mission and strategic goals
2. Develop and implement Risk Management program, systems and procedures for the identification, assessment and management of potential risks in liaison with key risk owners/process owners in compliance with applicable Risk Management standards.

Ensure that all possible risks (Strategic, Operational, Credit, Liquidity, Interest rate, Foreign Exchange, Compliance, etc.) are identified, analysed, assessed in a timely manner and appropriate risk responses formulated and implemented. 4. Develop and implement an effective and cost-efficient risk monitoring, evaluation, control and reporting framework and report to Management and the Board Risk Committee on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as appropriate.
5. Ensure that Management and staff are continuously trained and sensitized on Risk Management and their respective roles and responsibilities in Risk Management.
6. Stay abreast with, monitor and report new trends and evelopments in Risk Management to improve risk programs and keep Management apprised of the developments and their effects in line with the global best trends.
7. Effectively coordinate the implementation of the risk mitigation actions by the respective risk owners/business units.
8. Perform periodic tests to confirm compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure that the Bank’s standards continue to be monitored effectively by Line Management.

10. To establish processes for identifying and reporting any breaches or suspected breaches to the Managing Director.
11. Liaise with Line Managers to ensure that the Bank’s product review and new product development/approval processes are compliant with regulatory requirements and initiate reviews where changes in legal environment affect products.
12. Implementation of Departmental Work plan / Board 12. Perform political, economic, social and technological (PEST) analysis to identify emerging risks facing the Bank for detailed analysis and subsequent development of high-level control interventions to manage emerging trends.
13. Develop risk management policies including the quantification of risk and mitigation.
14. Management’s Risk Appetite through specific risk limits.
15. Quick resolution of Audit reports (Internal, External, Parent Bank, BOU, etc.).
16. Timely and accurate submission of statutory reports to Bank of Uganda / other regulator/ Shareholder.
17. Preparation of Risk appetite statement, ICAAP, risk related policy and procedure etc.
18. Any other assignment by Management/Board from time to time.

Qualification and Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Degree in a Business related field from a recognized Institution. At least Five (5) years working experience as Risk Manager in a Financial Institution/Bank is a MUST.
• Ability to lead team to achieve overall goal of bank.
• A proven and extensive track record in risk from a financial institution / Banks.
• Highly organized person, with ability to multitask with ease.
