POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a management position reporting to Head of IT Operations, AKS. The Project Manager – Specialist, Systems, Data and Analytics will lead end-to-end implementation, maintenance and support of information systems across AKS to satisfy current and emerging business needs of the organization. The incumbent would work closely with all the stakeholders to understand and satisfy information and reporting needs of the organization. S/he will lead automation of data collection, processing and reporting mechanism, and implementation of approved tools for data analytics and dashboard reporting to support informed decisions while ensuring data security.
The position can be located in any of the following countries: India, Kenya, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda
Major Responsibilities Include:
Project Management:
• Manage product and implementation partner evaluation processes.
• Lead project management activities including development, execution, and monitoring of detailed project plans to ensure project completion within agreed scope, time and budget.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget and risks.
• Maintain all project related information/ documentation.
• Conduct regular status meetings, as required.
• Provide status reports to project sponsors, stakeholders and steering committee.
• Preparation of project reviews after each major phase and/or on the completion of a project
• Prepare and execute project communication, change management and transition plans.
• Work collaboratively with project implementation team and vendor/ implementation partner.
• Coordinate with cross discipline team members that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
• Manage diverse teams with diverse disciplines across different countries.
Information Systems:
• Liaise with various stakeholders to elicit requirements, define the business processes and facilitate change management.
• Conducting focus group meetings and analysis workshops with stakeholders to document functional requirements ensuring that information system implementations meet the current and emerging business needs.
• Studying institutions’ ‘AS IS’ business processes and defining ‘TO BE’ business processes in line with the delivered software functionality.
• Identifying gaps between information system’s functionalities and business requirements.
• Converting business requirements into workable design solutions and specifications.
• Facilitating information system configurations as per agreed system design.
• Facilitating development of creative solutions and work-around to meet the user requirements not covered in the delivered software functionality.
• Facilitating design and development of integration between internal and external information systems.
• Facilitating data conversion and migration activities from legacy systems to information systems being implemented.
• Facilitating design and configuration of application and data security framework for information systems as per business needs.
• Conducting user acceptance testing sessions with business users for their sign-off before implementation.
• Facilitating Exploration, research, and debugging for fixing errors found in information system functionalities from time to time in consultation with the support vendor.
• Facilitating implementations and support for data management, analytics and reporting.
• Facilitating development and maintenance of user manual and other documents related to business processes.
• Fronting the business users in understanding and managing day-to-day operational issues post-implementation.
The requirements
Data Management and Analytics:
• Gather and assess information needs for AKS entities and functions.
• Implement a KPI framework across the country, which will be informed by its strategic direction.
• Provide advice and support to senior management on data-related matters.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in data and analytics and use this knowledge to inform the organization’s data strategy.
• Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, privacy, and security across the country.
• Utilize technology and software-based innovative solutions to automate business processes and workflows.
• Develop mechanism for improved data collection and sharing (through approved tools) from/ to internal and external stakeholders (i.e., surveys, local teams, national and international boards, etc.), validation, analysis and reporting.
• Oversee implementation and operations of data warehouse and analytics tool for dashboard reporting.
• Oversee design and development of operational and dashboard reports as per business requirements.
• Oversee development and implementation of data protection and privacy policies and procedures to satisfy compliance requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree in computer science, or information management. Certification in Project Management would be a plus.
• Extensive functional and technical knowledge and vast experience of managing large scale academic and enterprise information systems
• Excellent verbal and written communications, including presentations and training skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and management skills.
• Willingness to travel for work.
