About the Position
The Survey Coordinator will oversee the planning, execution, and management of research surveys. The role involves coordinating fieldwork, supervising data collection teams, ensuring data quality, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of survey projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, experience in survey methodology, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the research team to develop survey designs, including sampling strategies, questionnaires, and data collection methods
• Prepare detailed work plans, schedules, and budgets for survey projects.
• Recruit, train, and supervise field staff, including enumerators and data entry personnel
• Coordinate logistics for fieldwork, including travel arrangements, equipment, and materials
• Monitor field activities to ensure adherence to survey protocols and timelines
• Ensure data collection processes meet quality standards, including overseeing the implementation of quality control measures while resolving any issues that may arise during data collection, such as non-response or technical problems
• Liaise with the data management team to ensure timely and accurate data entry and processing
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, community leaders, and other partners involved in the survey
• Organize and lead meetings to discuss survey results and implications and provide regular updates on survey progress and any challenges encountered
• Prepare progress reports and final reports summarizing survey findings, document best practices and lessons learnt and ensure that all survey documentation is properly archived for future reference
• Ensure all survey activities comply with ethical standards, including obtaining necessary approvals from Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) or Ethics Committees.
• Ensure informed consent is obtained from all survey participants and that data confidentiality is maintained
Education Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field. A Master’s/PhD degree is preferred.
Preferred Skills
• Strong project management and organizational skills with Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, PMI-ACP)
• Proficiency in survey software and data collection tools (e.g. SurveyCTO).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, Python).
Experience
• At least 3-5 years of experience in coordinating research surveys or similar projects.
• Experience with fieldwork and managing large data collection efforts is essential.
