JOB DETAILS:
Makerere University seeks to fill the positions of Principal and Deputy Principal of the College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS), the Principal College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) and the Deputy Principal of the College of Health Sciences (CHS). The Colleges of Makerere University are semi-autonomous academic units comprising schools, Institutes, departments and academic centers that conduct general and professional training, teaching and research in various disciplines.
2. POST: DEPUTY PRINCIPAL – 2 POSITIONS – COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (CoBAMS) AND COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES (CHS)
A Deputy Principal is a Deputy head of a College as by law established.
Purpose of the job
The Deputy Principal deputises the Principal of a College and performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal in accordance with the laid down procedures of Makerere University.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates should possess the following attributes:
(i) Hold PhD or other academic Doctorate in a relevant discipline;
(ii) Be at least of the rank of Senior Lecturer or its equivalent at the time of application;
(iii) Four (4) years of managerial experience in an institution of Higher Learning or a Research Institution with a track record of having served at least as a head of an academic department or an academic programmes coordinator, or a research project manager;
(iv) Teaching experience of at least five (5) years in any of the disciplines offered in the College he/she intends to lead;
(v) Applicants at the rank of Senior Lecturer should not be above 56 years of age at the time of application;
(vi) Applicants at the rank of Associate Professor should not be above 61 years of age at the time of application.
(vii) Applicants at the rank of Professor should not be above 66 years of age at the time of application;
(viii) Applicants must have demonstrable experience in networking, research and resource mobilization.
Term of office
The Deputy Principal is appointed for a term of four years and may be renewed for one further term only.
Salary Scale: M4
