Founded in 2016 in Uganda, Imprint Hope envisions a world where all children with disabilities are appreciated for their unique talents and provided an opportunity to actualize their full potential. Imprint Hope works to eliminate the neglect, abuse, abandonment and death of children with disabilities in Uganda by educating communities on childhood disability, providing medical and rehabilitation services and educating and empowering caretakers to care for their child and earn a living wage for their families. Imprint Hope’s operations are based at our rehabilitation and education center in Jinja, Uganda.
Job Summary: The Operations Manager is an in-country position based in Jinja, Uganda, and reports directly to the director of Imprint Hope. Through your leadership you will make an important contribution to Imprint Hope’s work to serve children with disabilities and their families. You will have primary responsibility to manage Imprint Hope’s operational department, ensuring operational excellence. You will lead a large and diverse team to ensure Imprint Hope operations tasks and business processes are completed in an effective, efficient and timely manner per Imprint Hope policies and procedures. You will be responsible to ensure the safety and security of staff and program participants, stewardship of resources, and compliance with applicable laws and donor requirements. As a member of the Imprint Hope senior management team, you will provide strategic leadership and effective management to ensure programs and operations teams effectively collaborate to achieve results and impact per Imprint Hope’s mission.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide overall leadership to the IH Operations Team, including, HR, administration, logistics, procurement, etc. Ensure all IH business processes are implemented effectively and efficiently, in compliance with internal policies, applicable laws and regulations, and donor requirements.
• Supervise operations department coordinators and other key staff; to include the
• Facilities/Logistics Manager, the Night Supervisor, the Security Supervisor, and the Finance Officer.
• Working closely with the senior management team, lead the design and implementation of strong operations policies, procedures, systems and processes.
• Build the capacity of the IH operations team through training, mentorship, coaching and accompaniment, especially the Facility/Logistics Manager, Night Supervisor, and Security Supervisor.
• As a member of the senior management team, contribute to strategic leadership and effective management of Imprint Hope, ensuring strong coordination across program and operations teams to achieve impact per IH’s mission.
• Lead planning, set clear goals, and proactively and adaptively manage the operations team to perform against these goals; lead participatory processes to evaluate performance and adaptively manage.
• Ensure strong budget management across IH Operations Departments.
• Proactively ensure safety and security of IH staff, assets, and resources; serve as senior focal point for safety and security, and incident manager.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (business, finance, administration, etc). Master’s Degree is preferred. (Experience can substitute for education).
• Minimum five years of professional experience in a management role related to operations/finance/business, demonstrating progressive responsibility; non-profit experience preferred.
Added Advantage:
• Fluent English and Luganda speaker
• Basic Computer Skills – typing, email, Microsoft Word and Excel,
• Basic English-writing skills (ability to write basic sentences and paragraphs for emails, reports etc)
• Basic competency in finance / accounting
• Extensive Supervisory Experience in direct supervision of employees at labor and entry-level management levels.
• General experience in the management/administration and operations of an organization or business. (Non-profit experience is preferred).
• Experience in one or more of the following specific areas is a plus:
• Book-keeping, accounting, or budget management
• Internal audit, risk management, compliance, or internal controls.
• Organizational leadership, team-building, or coaching skills.
• Coordinating logistics and/or managing vehicles/fleet
• Inventory management, Supply Chain, or Procurement, Facilities Management,
• Safety / Security Management experience
• Experience with finance and/or operations of an NGO is a plus
• Education or experience related to international development, humanitarian, or global health fields is a plus
• Experience working with or knowledge about persons with disabilities is a plus
