Job summary:

M&E Assistant works with the MEAL Specialist to develop and review tools, ensure that data gathered accurately supports reporting on project progress and facilitating report writing. Position holder also supports and trains field staff in their data collection and analysis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Support to project implementation on M&E activities
• Participate in reviewing data collection and management systems, designing / developing and testing relevant tools, online reporting systems and databases for storage of collected data.
• Ensure proper use and understanding of data collection tools, data entry and storage by field staff and volunteer instructors involved in data collection.
• Support and participate in any short-term evaluations, accountability and learning activities.
• Prepare weekly/monthly schedules of M&E activities.
Data management and Analysis
• Keep track of project performance and progress using the indicator tracking matrix.
• Guide field teams on how data flows and ensure data tools are available for the staff.
• Conduct field spot checks and visits to validate and verify the accuracy.
• Support the project staff in reviewing monthly and quarterly reports with a bias to data accuracy and ensure timely submission of high-quality reports
Capacity building of project staff in Project Monitoring and Evaluation
• Identify capacity training gaps among the field staff and propose/ design interventions.
• Mentor field staff and volunteers involved in the collection of primary data on the proper use of tools and offer other required assistance when need arises.

Qualification and Competencies
• Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Science or any relevant discipline.
• At least 2 year working experience in a similar position with a local or international NGO
• Competency in Word, Microsoft Office packages, Kobo Collect, Power BI.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Be a team player and ability to multitask and work independently.
• Knowledge of Swahili, Arabic or Dinka language is desirable.
