Insieme Si Puo’ – ISP in Africa is a non-profit making organization based in Uganda since 1983, it has two territorial offices in Kampala and Moroto, in Karamoja. The mission focuses on improving the quality of life of the country’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable groups by empowering them to identify and solve challenges and problematics related to their basic needs, related to health, the social and economic sphere, education, human development, the environment.
ISP carries out emergency and development cooperation projects that guarantee food, water, school, vocational training, human development, health, female empowerment, support a distance.
Vacancy description
ISP is seeking to recruit a qualified Junior Driver. He/She will be based in Moroto, with frequent visits to other locations within the project areas, in Karamoja Sub-Region. The incumbent will work with ISP Moroto local staff, the Project Manager and the Administrative and Monitoring Manager.
Position Title: Junior Driver
Experience required: 2 years
Salary range: 300,000 UGX per month
Compulsory: Valid Ugandan driving license for cars and motorbikes
Languages: English proficiency – Karimojong native speaker
Job brief: The driver should:
• Ensure daily ISP staff transport on the field;
• Ensure goods withdrawal or delivery related to the project;
• Daily engine and general vehicles conditions checking upon direction and supervision of ISP Senior Driver: report to ISP Administrator for every intervention required;
• Liaison with mechanical garages both in Moroto and Kampala or wherever ISP might need to repair their vehicles;
• Fueling and service activities upon direction and supervision of ISP Senior Driver: oil filter replacement, engine oil replacement and every other service activity to be done on regular basis, keeping updated all vehicles logbooks;
• When needed, ISP devises or tools transport on the field for the technical team;
• When requested, accompany visitors or ISP staff to different locations (ISP Kampala, national parks, distant field projects, …) even during public holidays;
• Under specific request of ISP Moroto Project Manager and/or ISP Moroto Administrative and Monitoring Manager, purchase items/goods for ISP activities.
Expected skills/behavior: Strong attitude towards team work; proactivity and problem-solving oriented approach; attention to safety of passengers transported; being ISP core values ambassador; waste management
Duration: 1 year contract (renewable upon performance and funds’ availability)
Location: Moroto with frequent field missions in other Districts of Karamoja
