Responsibilities
A. Key Responsibilities
The Junior CSH Officer shall be responsible for.
• To lead and implement GIZ’s sustainability programme with a focus on environmental sustainability, in line with GIZ’s corporate policy and international environmental standards.
• Ensure the integration of sustainable environmental practices into all GIZ projects and activities.
• Coordinates and executes quality assurance for administration and financial procedures.
• Complements and disseminates new policies.
• Communicates with HQ, DA contact person for general inquiries.
• Promotes DA position amongst GIZ UG Programs and Projects.
• Carries out a DA recruiting promotion rally two times a year.
• Onboarding new DA informing about admin issues.
• Is a member of DA roundtables and DA staff representation.

The Junior CSH Officer shall perform the following tasks:
B. Specific tasks
• Develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies to promote sustainable development.
• Work with the various GIZ-UG programmes to integrate environmental aspects into project planning and implementation.
• Ensure compliance with local and international environmental laws and standards.
• Developing training and development programmes for employees on environmental sustainability.
• Monitoring and reporting on the progress of sustainability initiatives to senior management and external stakeholders.
• Foster partnerships with external entities (non-governmental organisations, government, private sector) to advance environmental goals.
• Keep abreast of global best practices in environmental sustainability and integrate these into GIZ’s work.

Other Duties/Additional Tasks
• Performs other duties and tasks at the request of Management.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management/ Sustainability or a related field

Details of experience
• 1 to 3 years of professional working experience in similar role.
• Familiar with GIZ contract management, quality management and PuR.
• Familiarity with environmental law and standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English. German language is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
• Ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity.
• Experience in working with donors and national institutions in the sector are an added advantage
