Job Overview
Job Purpose:
Inventory Control is a “hands-on” position that works across departmental boundaries on issues related to inventory optimization, materials flow between Base(s) and minimization of any losses.
The person in this role establishes, maintains and monitors inventory to help the business achieve its goals for efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide the necessary leadership to Stock Controllers that will build as well as maintain an adequate inventory control and management system.
• To manage and coordinate the activities of all the staff members engaged in inventory control, inventory accuracy and dispatch.
• Provide leadership to the dispatch team to ensure that customer’s orders are dispatched accurately and expeditiously.
• Allocate and organize resources (materials and people) to meet objectives. Administer the inventory control and distribution of materials in centralized and remote storerooms. Review current methods and develop improved practices and procedures.
• Evaluate the inventory activities for accuracy and quality. Manage and inspect the store facilities and premises. Manage the taking and maintenance of physical inventories.
• Continuously monitor and report on key inventory metrics (turns excess and obsolete, safety
• Stock, stock availability, service part stock, slow-moving etc.)
• Implement and maintain processes to optimize inventory levels on finished goods, raw materials and safety stock.
• Identify and utilize tools within the ERP system (SAP B1) to streamline materials flow and dispatch Operations.
• Work with procurement. and suppliers to implement, document and maintain progressive sourcing strategies (vendor-managed inventory, Kanban systems, JIT programs, supplier stocking agreements, etc.)
• Evaluate and manage materials/inventory issues related to the introduction of new products, major product revisions or other changes to manufacturing or sourcing processes.
• Work with the Maintenance Department to analyze machine parts usage, demand and stocking strategies for the Spares Store.
• Work with the Finance Dept. to coordinate and monitor cycle count and stock-take activities.
• Plan, manage and evaluate supply chain operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers and transportation companies.
• To review the current inventory positions for the raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods and to provide a monthly summary of the same and to present it during the S&OP Meeting.
• Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.
• Participate in personnel development at all levels through talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, providing opportunities for high performers, education, communication, expectation setting, and self-actualization.
• Determine and liaise with Human Resources & Chief Operating Officer on Staff training and development
• Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
• Deliver on the implementation of our clients in the Inventory Control function.

• Weeks on Hand: Average Inventory ÷ Cost of Goods Sold x 52
• Inventory Turnover Rate
• Inventory Accuracy
• Order Pick, Pack and Ship Accuracy
• Value – Inventory Loss/ Gain
• Time in Full (OTIF) of Customer Orders.
• Expenses maintained below the Budget.
• Ensure no breach of our client Processes, standards and practices both operational & financial.
• Compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements; UNBS, NEMA & EOSH Act, URA
• Implementation progress of our client’s Way 4.0 Best Practices.
Role Reports
Present Monthly Inventory Control summary report during Monthly Operations Review and Sales & Operations Planning meetings.
Regular reports on Performance – Inventory Control and Dispatch.
Job Requirement (Knowledge and Key Skills)
• High level of proficiency and a working knowledge of ERP systems, MRP functionality, production planning, inventory planning and production scheduling.
• Experience with SAP B1 ERP Systems preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of management and with individual contributors.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
• Good commercial and business understanding
• Analytical approach and problem diagnostic skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Academic: Degree in Business Statistics, BCOM, BBA
