Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Operations, the IT Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the information technology systems and infrastructure, ensuring their reliability, security, and efficient operation. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to lead a team of IT professionals effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and guidance to the IT team, ensuring efficient and effective IT operations.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s information technology systems, including hardware, software, networks, and servers.
• Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of data, systems, and networks.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, solutions, and upgrades to improve the organization’s IT infrastructure and operations.
• Manage and monitor the organization’s IT budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of hardware, software, and services.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide appropriate solutions and support.
• Conduct regular audits of systems, networks, and procedures to identify and address vulnerabilities and risks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues, including hardware and software malfunctions, network connectivity problems, and security breaches.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and industry trends, and make recommendations for their implementation.
• Lead and participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, installations, and migrations, ensuring
• timely completion and minimal disruption to business operations.
• Provide training and support to end-users on the effective and secure use of IT systems and software. Staff Development and Management
• Directly leads and supervises a team of IT professionals ensuring efficient & effective service delivery.
• Build and develop the capacity of the IT team through trainings, performance management frameworks, and development plans.
Technical expertise, skills, and knowledge
• At least 5 years of proven experience working in Information Technology management at the senior level.
• Management experience in a highly operational NGO or corporate environment, including significant field operations experience.
• Demonstrable experience in assessing, testing, training and developing drivers
• Experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate, and develop others
• Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
• Self-accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, achieving and role modeling RTV values
• Develops and encourages new and innovative solutions to provide positive solutions and outcomes
• Honest, encourages openness and transparency, builds trust and confidence
• Ability to work and provide effective leadership in complex and stressful situations.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
• In-depth knowledge of information technology principles, best practices, and emerging trends.
• Strong technical expertise in systems administration, network infrastructure, security protocols, and database management.
• Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux environments, virtualization technologies, and cloud-based solutions.
• Experience in leading IT projects from inception to completion, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide effective solutions.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience (at least 5 years) in a senior IT role, preferably in a complex and dynamic organizational environment.
• In-depth knowledge of information technology principles, best practices, and emerging trends.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, or equivalent are highly desirable
