Job Summary:
The Health Safety & Environment Officer will play a pivotal role in promoting a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and overseeing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures. This position aims to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, identify and mitigate potential risks while fostering a culture of safety within GOGO Electric
Primary Responsibilities
Safety Compliance:
• Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations by monitoring and enforcing compliance across all functions in the organization.
• Conduct regular site inspections of all swap stations, production facilities and all Bodawerk offices to identify and address potential hazards.
• Ensure employees and contractors adhere to established safety protocols.
• Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed in adherence to the prevailing Company policies with regard to personal safety and operational safety instructions.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and prepare detailed reports and with recommendations and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and actions taken.
Emergency Response Planning:
• Assist in the development and testing of emergency response plans.
• Coordinate with emergency services and first responders as necessary.
Risk Assessment:
• Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) for various tasks.
• Collaborate with operational teams to identify and implement risk mitigation measures.
• Training and Education:
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to promote a culture of safety awareness.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
• Prepare regular reports on HSE performance and trends.
Secondary responsibilities:
• Support the implementation of QMS, EMS & OHSMS (ISO 450001) at GOGO Electric
• Any other duties that may be assigned as required from time to time.
Attributes & Skills:
Technical:
• Familiarity with environmental management practices.
• Familiarity with safety management practices
• Technical writing and report writing
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Basic proficiency in common business applications and software (email, text processing, cloud storage)
• Preferred: IMS (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, & ISO 14001) implementation and Audit skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to conduct thorough investigations
• Ability to walk and stand-up for extended periods of times (up to 2 hours) in sometimes physically demanding environments.

Education & Experience:
• Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honors Bachelors of Science Degree in Health and Safety, or Mechanical, or Environment Engineering, or Geology, or related field and training in Safety from a recognized University.
• 1-2 Years Work Experience.
