Description
As a member of ExCo, the Head Retail Banking leads the development and execution of strategy for the Retail Banking Division, taking overall responsibility for the acquisition, growth and management of the bank’s client relationships.
Responsibilities/Key Deliverables:
- Drive the bank’s market share ambitions and profitability targets
- Scale retail to accelerate mass acquisition and drive retention.
- Drive the business banking business in order to become the preferred Bank in SME segment.
- Grow the revenue by leading the development & implementation of competitive Marketing Plans and Sales Strategies to drive up Retail Banking revenues.
- Drive the asset performance: by ensuring that Return on Investment is monitored and optimized via careful, informed, decision making at all points of sale.
- Enhance Brand Integrity by ensuring that customers are experiencing the promised value propositions and that mechanisms are in place for collecting and utilizing both positive & corrective feedback.
- Develop a strong culture of risk and compliance management; take responsibility for the implementation of risk-management controls and for statutory compliance within the Retail Banking Domain.
- Actively contribute towards the development and implementation of an innovation and digital-transformation strategy that measurably enhances the Retail Banking Domain competitive position; ensure improvement projects cost-effectively achieve their desired impacts
- Responsible for delivery of the domain’s budget for the balance sheet and P&L.
Requirements
- A Master’s Degree preferably in Commerce, Finance or Business Studies
- ACIB or similar professional qualification is mandatory; MBA would be an added advantage Skills & Experience:
- 10 years’ work experience preferably in a Sales role in financial services or Relationship Management experience of which 5 should be in a senior management position.
- Extensive managerial and leadership experience with proven ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in business development and the management of change.
- Ability to develop and implement an innovative and effective business plan and marketing strategy.
- Strong understanding of retail banking and Fin Tech trends
- Demonstrated experience in the structuring of complex financial deals; with associated ability to negotiate and close sales
- A deep understanding of risk management in a financial services organization
- Familiarity with the financial services industry in East Africa or emerging markets
- Demonstrated ability to establish credible and sustainable relationships with a broad range of stakeholders (including customers, industry peers and regulators)
- Familiarity with the Financial Institutions Act (FIA), AML Act.
