Job Purpose:
The Graphic Designer will work collaboratively with the editorial, planning, and production teams to create engaging visuals that complement news stories, advertising artwork, and other content. This role involves ensuring all designs are print-ready, meeting tight publication deadlines, and maintaining the newspaper’s visual identity while driving innovation and creativity in its presentation.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Design and Production Tasks:
o Create templates in Arkitex for newspaper publications, aligning with Naviga plan layouts.
o Monitor page processing robots for smooth PDF exports to Arkitex.
o Check final PDFs for errors and inconsistencies before releasing them to CTP for platemaking.
2. Collaboration and Coordination:
o Work closely with Chief Sub-Editors, the planning officer, and CTP operators to ensure alignment with editorial content.
o Monitor and raise red flags for missed publication deadlines, providing timely performance reports to stakeholders.
3. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure all designs meet technical specifications, including color accuracy and proper enhancement for press output.
o Stay updated on software design tools and trends, relevant to both print and digital publishing.
4. Innovation and Creativity:
o Identify opportunities to streamline design processes and improve efficiency.
o Suggest creative ideas to enhance the visual appeal of the newspaper and integrate motion (video) elements for digital platforms.
5. File Management and Compliance:
o Receive and check commercial printing work for conformity and process it in Arkitex after confirmation from the production manager.
o Upload approved PDF pages to the ePaper platform in accordance with company-set guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:
Academic:
• Basic university degree in Graphics Design or a related field from a recognized institution.
Professional:
• Diploma in Graphics Design.
Experience:
• At least 3 years of working experience, preferably in a printing environment of a media house.

Core Competencies:
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, CapCut).
• Strong knowledge of newspaper layout design, typography, and color theory.
• Familiarity with pre-press and newspaper printing processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Creativity and passion for visual storytelling, including motion graphics for social media and digital platforms.
