JOB DETAILS:
The Social Innovation Academy (SINA) is a pioneering non-profit organization that oversees numerous, independently run communities throughout Africa. With the goal of empowering young people to create social enterprises, SINA has supported the creation of over 600 jobs in communities the 11 different SINAs operate in, including Jangu International in Mpigi District, Uganda.
As part of its commitment to championing equal opportunity and rights for its staff, scholars, and partners, SINA is developing gender equality workshops to be run at SINA and in the Mpigi District.
SINA is calling for applicants who are passionate about exploring gender-related issues in public spaces to support facilitating workshops.
Applicant’s Profile
Availability and Time Commitment
Availability to begin work from the time of hire (November 2023) to the end of February 2024.
Willingness to work in person.
Average number of workdays total: 10
Position Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Support in the design of Gender Equality Workshops for SINA members and the general public in Mpigi.
• Facilitate internal workshops for SINA members at Jangu International.
• Facilitate public workshops for the general public of Mpigi District.
• Facilitate internal workshops in numerous schools in Mpigi District.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Minimum of five years experience in gender-related work and community engagement.
• Certification and education in gender-based studies is an asset.
• The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Effective conflict management skills, especially in public dialogues involving both genders.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work cooperatively with others.
• A clear understanding of the challenges faced by rural women and girls in Uganda.
• A passion for working with and supporting causes that empower women.
Salary
• UGX 500,000 (Daily rate)
