1. Exciting Career Opportunity:
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is a statutory organization established under the Uganda Tourism Board Statute of 1994 and reconstituted under the Tourism Act 2008.
UTB Objectives:
a) To promote and contribute to the development of tourism both within and outside Uganda.
b) To coordinate with the Ministry responsible for Tourism and the private sector in implementing the National Tourism Policy.
c) To carry out other activities as necessary to attain the objectives outlined in the Tourism Act.

2. Main Purpose of the Job:
• Provide strategic and inspirational leadership to UTB to ensure it has a clear and compelling vision.
• Develop and implement strategic goals to deliver on the organization’s mandate as outlined in the Tourism Act.

3. Key Result Areas:
1. Development, implementation, and review of the Strategic Plan.
2. Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations.
3. Tourism Promotion and Development.
4. Financial and Procurement Management.
5. Team Performance Management.
6. Policy Development and Regulations.
7. Compliance with the Law and Governance Guidelines.

4. Qualifications and Experience:
a) Minimum Academic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, or any related field from a recognized institution.
• A postgraduate qualification (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in a related field is an added advantage.
b) Professional Experience:
• At least 7 years of experience in tourism promotion, marketing, product development, or management in a credible public or private organization.
• Proven track record of performance in team leadership, project management, and turning organizations into profitable and vibrant institutions.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and building effective partnerships.

5. Personal Attributes and Skills:
• Visionary leadership with strong strategic planning abilities.
• High integrity, innovation, and proactivity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of the economic and tourism landscape of Uganda and the region.
• Demonstrated professionalism, utilization, and accountability in public resources.

6. Working Conditions:
• The position is full-time within a value-based and results-oriented organizational culture.
• Significant travel is expected due to the nature of the role.
• The CEO may occasionally work beyond regular hours to meet the demands of the job.
