Job Overview

PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year activity (2023-2028) implemented by the Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global ELC) as a lead partner with funding from USAID Feed the Future in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The Activity aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security in the Kyoga Basin in northeastern Uganda, specifically three watersheds – Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere, by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance.
The activity aims therefore to achieve results under the following development objectives: 1. Improve water supply and integrated water resource management.
2. Increase equitable access to sanitation and hygiene services for households and schools.
3. Improved agriculture-based livelihoods.
4. Increased consumption of nutritious foods among women and children.
5. Expanded access to financial resources for women, men, youth, indigenous people, and marginalized groups.
6. Improve local capacity to manage shocks and stressors.

The Catchment Manager (CM) will supervise the staff of the catchment office to ensure technical designs and administrative policies are implemented according to the annual work plan and Activity policies and procedures respectively. The CM will cultivate local relationships with, and linkages between local public and private sector stakeholders and as such will be an important representative for the Activity at the local level. S/he will monitor implementation at the catchment and support the Implementation Director in staying informed on nuanced community needs and location-specific implementation considerations.

Job Requirements:
• Advanced degree in agriculture science/economics, economics/ business, environmental management/ IWRM, public health or related field, plus a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience; Or bachelor’s degree in agriculture science/ economics, economics/business, environmental management/science, integrated water resources management, public health, or related field with minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience.
• Prior supervisory and/or project management experience for large teams is required.
• Demonstrated experience working in catchment area and prior experience. working for or with USAID-implemented Activities or donor-funded agriculture or water- related programs in Uganda is preferred. Professional proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in local languages is preferred.
