Job Summary:
The Psychological Counsellor will enhance the psychological functioning of clients by helping clients overcome problems arising from mental health conditions
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess clients suffering from mental health conditions
• Screen clients for eligibility for mental health services.
• Conduct psychological assessments of clients
• Assess mental health needs and risk assessment of the clients.
• Provide quality psychological care services
• Make client referrals based on identification of client’s needs
Provide quality psychological care service
• Evaluate each psychological counselling session
• Plan, implement and evaluate the outcome of therapy
• Establish a collaborative working relationship with the client based on trust and respect.
• Conduct follow-up of assessments with clients.
Clinical supervision responsibilities.
• Participate in the mental health unit teamwork, awareness and fundraising activities
• Fill session evaluation template of individual psychological counseling sessions
• Participate in individual and group clinical supervision sessions
• Prepare cases for case discussion.
Coordination of mental health unit responsibilities.
• Promote mental health capacity building activities
• Participate in mental health coordination meetings and fundraising activities
• Foster teamwork among mental health staff.
• Participate in mental health capacity building activities.
Reporting responsibilities.
• Compile activity reports and prepare periodic reports on implemented mental health activities
• Facilitate the preparation of periodic reports.
• Make client referrals to external heath facilities based on identified client needs
• Submit relevant reports to the UHRC and courts of law
• Appear as an expert witness in courts of law
Key Performance Indicators
• Provision of appropriate mental health treatment
• Accurate report on the number of clients who receive psychological care services
• Timely and accurate reports
• Provision of appropriate mental health services
• Knowledge of mental health consequences of torture
• Assessment and documentation at mental health effects of torture
• Basic counseling skills
• Communication skills
• Medical ethical skills principles and application
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology, community counselling, or any other related degree
• Three years of working experience in a similar field
• Languages: Fluency in English. Proficiency in Ngakarimojong language
• Aged between 25years – 35years
