JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities.
• Fleet Operations Management:
• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the company’s vehicle fleet.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards.
• Monitor and optimize the utilization of vehicles to maximize efficiency.
Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs:
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles.
• Coordinate with maintenance staff and external service providers for timely repairs and servicing.
• Ensure all vehicles meet safety and environmental standards.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
• Develop and manage the annual budget for the fleet department.
• Implement cost-control measures to optimize expenses related to fuel, maintenance, and repairs.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising operational effectiveness.
Fleet Asset Management:
• Maintain accurate records of all fleet assets, including vehicle details, maintenance history, and licensing.
• Evaluate the need for new vehicles and recommend acquisitions or disposals as necessary.
• Monitor and manage vehicle insurance coverage.
Driver Management:
• Supervise and lead a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules and safety protocols.
• Conduct training sessions for drivers on safety, compliance, and efficient driving practices.
• Address performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Stay informed about relevant transportation regulations and ensure the fleet’s compliance.
• Obtain and renew necessary permits, licenses, and certifications for the fleet.
• Collaborate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Utilize fleet management software to analyze data on vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
• Generate regular reports for senior management on key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
Emergency Response Planning:
• Develop and implement contingency plans for emergency situations such as accidents or breakdowns.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities and emergency services to ensure a prompt and effective response.
Vendor Management:
• Negotiate and manage relationships with suppliers, dealerships, and service providers.
• Monitor service level agreements and vendor performance.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the fleet management function.
• Implement best practices to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Education, Qualifications & Experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in fleet management or a similar role. at least 5 years’ experience for same position. at least managed fleet of over 50 trucks.
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge and Skills
• Must have a valid diving license and should be able to drive.
• Willing to travel.
• Knowledge of computer packages like Ms. Word, Ms. Excel and outlook.
• Good communication skills.
• Must be professional and responsible at all times.
