Changing rainfall patterns are devastating the lives of African farmers. Even worse, to survive droughts, farmers often turn to deforestation to feed their families. Kijani partners with farmers to plant millions of trees to provide sustainable livelihoods and reverse deforestation. We plant trees to break the cycle of climate-induced poverty in Africa.
Kijani is seeking an experienced Android App Developer to join this exponentiallygrowing company committed to reshaping the future of Africa. The role will involve the design, development, and maintenance of our mobile apps, with a focus on creating high-performance, user-friendly, and scalable solutions appropriate to the local context. The candidate should have experience with Airtable or a similar relational database. Familiarity with machine learning and AR is a plus. The role will require some time being spent in Gulu, Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop new features for our Android apps
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
• Test and debug apps to ensure proper functionality and performance
• Troubleshoot and debug any issues that may arise during development Key Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience developing Android apps
• Strong understanding of Java and Android SDK
• Experience with Airtable or similar relational database integrations
• Familiarity with machine learning is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work
• Openness to listen to key stakeholders and account for cultural differences
