The PMI Uganda Malaria Reduction Activity (MRA) is a five-year program funded by USAID, focusing on strengthening malaria prevention and health ownership at both community and household levels in Uganda’s five most affected regions: Acholi, Busoga, Karamoja, Lango, and West Nile. While maintaining gains at the health facility level, the Activity emphasizes local capacity building in these high-burden areas.
This Activity is implemented by John Snow Research and Training Institute Inc. (JSI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. It aims to enhance the technical, managerial, financial, and leadership capabilities at all levels of healthcare provision. The Activity also prioritizes filling service gaps at the community level and supports specific private for-profit health facilities to enhance malaria case management and reporting.
THE NEED PMI MRA plans to work in partnership with various local organizations, including civil society organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), faith- based groups, and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), as subgrantees. This partnership is aimed at bolstering the implementation and expansion of malaria interventions focused on households and communities in areas most affected by malaria.
JSI is therefore inviting applications from eligible organizations to support Activity implementation in the following districts: Buyende, Alebtong, Dokolo, Adjuman, Madi- Okollo, Maracha, Nebbi, Obongi, Pakwach, Terego, Yumbe, Agago, Lamwo, Nwoya, Amuru, Pader, Abim, Kaabong, Kotido, Nabilatuk, and Nakapirit.
