JOB DETAILS:

Job Summary:
The Plant Operator I (Paint Shop) is responsible for painting vehicles to a high standard and ensuring that the job is completed efficiently and safely.

Salary Scale: KT8 (1)
Report to: Plant Operator II

Key Functions:
• Prepare vehicles for painting, mask off parts of the car that are not to be painted, mix and apply paint, select and mix the correct colour, and ensure that the finish is smooth and even.
• Use appropriate tools for spraying, brushing, or rolling paint onto the body of the vehicle, and to the interior and exterior trim. The car painter must ensure that the paint matches existing colors and is applied in a neat and uniform manner.
• Maintain a clean, uncluttered, and safe work environment observing and practicing high standards of health, safety, and environment.
• Lead, mentor, develop, coach, train and appraise peers to help them be successful in their roles and to progress in their skills and abilities.
• Develop and implement Monthly Work Plans necessary for executing the above duties and responsibilities and Performance Reports detailing all vehicle painting aspects of the company.
• Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Academic Qualifications
Worker’s Practically Acquired Skills (Worker’s PAS) in Automotive Painting.

Minimum Experience
The applicant should have served a Vehicle Painter for at least Two (2) years.

• Interpretation of Technical and Engineering Documentation
• Knowledge of Paint Application Techniques
