JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
A Technician (Paint Shop) is responsible for vehicle painting (body in white), repairing old paint jobs, creating customized paint jobs, maintaining schedules to meet deadlines, preparing surfaces to be painted, removing parts that are not to be painted, and controlling factors that determine the success of painting.
Salary Scale: KT4 (1)
Reports to: Principal Technician
Direct Reports: Plant Operator IV
Key Functions:
• Perform highly detailed inspections of the vehicle paint job, providing description of any problematic areas that need to be addressed.
• Repair defective paint on the vehicle by means of priming, painting, wet sanding, and polishing.
• Keep and Maintain records of all defects and correction actions taken and communicated results to the proper departments.
• Investigate any potential contaminant sources which could affect the quality of the materials used in the painting process.
• Monitor and keep the LPG systems records and report faults to responsible personnel.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance painting duties, which included keeping an accurate count of tool and supply inventory.
• Lead, mentor, develop, coach, train and appraise subordinates and peers to help them be successful in their roles and to progress in their skills and abilities.
• Develop and implement Monthly Work Plans necessary for executing the above duties and responsibilities and Performance Reports detailing all Vehicle Painting aspects of the company.
• Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Minimum Academic Qualifications
• Ordinary/National Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Industrial Fine Art and Design or Related Field with at least Credit Class or Equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Craft /Advanced/National Certificate in Automotive Painting, UVQF Level II/Trade Certificate in Automotive Painting or related field.
Minimum Experience
The applicant should have General Working Experience of at least Three (3) years. The applicant should have served a Vehicle Painter for at least Two (2) years.
Core Competencies
• Cleaning, Grinding, Masking Skills,
• Conventional and Compact Painting, Corrosion Coatings, Full Body Corrosion Wax Process, Paint Process Ovens, Paint Repair Process.
• Ability to mix and match different paint colours accurately.
• Electrical control knowledge, Mechanical and material knowledge, Pipeline maintenance skill
• Interpretation of Technical and Engineering Documentation
• Knowledge of Paint Application Techniques
